Interview with Aptero's co-founder, Cédric Chane

Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to interview Cédric Chane, a French entrepreneur, who decided to expand his activities to Korea. We talked about his point of view on Franco-Korean interactions, as well about his experiences, as someone who is daily working in South Korea

What is Aptero?

Aptero offers immersive 3D training experiences using AI technology. They create virtual training environments where individuals can interact with AI to learn new skills, particularly focusing on industries like aviation. The AI assists learners by answering questions related to their training, such as job specificities, salaries, and contract details, thereby enhancing the learning process and saving time for trainers. After winning the Facebook Developer Circles Community Challenge in 2019,  the start-up surely found its place and created a path for growth and expansion. Also, starting in 2022, Aptero opened itself to the South Korean market. and Aptero took part in the K-Startup Grand Challenge program, and in 2023 they received the Best Startup award in the FKCCI French Business Award.

What are the reasons behind this choice, why Korea?

Aptero already had existing clients in Asia, including China, Korea, and Japan. They saw Korea as a strategic location for growth, both in terms of collaboration and software sales, leveraging the advantages of the supportive business environment and government programs. Moreover, the Korean government as well as the French one created multiple aids and programs, and Aptero benefited from them. Once the company managed to install itself on the Korean market, they were able to expand and grow with the help of the FKCCI (France in Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry).

Who are the partners you met in Korea?

Thanks to the partners in France, Korea, and both countries’ governments, Aptero was able to meet partners interested in its solutions.

In Korea, Aptero has received positive responses and interest from various stakeholders. They have established partnerships with universities and have been invited as guest speakers to discuss their innovative solutions. Korean students and professionals have shown keen interest in Aptero's offerings, particularly in the intersection of technology, education, and culture. The FKCCI award has also provided Aptero with valuable networking opportunities and support, further enhancing its presence and reputation in the Korean market. Additionally, given the intersection of technology, education, and culture in Aptero's offerings, tech firms in Korea see potential collaboration opportunities with the company to drive innovation and workforce development.
