  1. Celebrate Chuseok at the Guimet Museum! 🇰🇷

The Guimet Museum is hosting a grand event weekend to celebrate Chuseok, one of Korea’s most important traditional holidays. Fans of Korean culture and the curious alike are invited to explore Korean traditions through traditional games, "1 artwork, 1 drama" flash visits, literary discussions, and unforgettable festive evenings.

Highlights include a DJ rooftop party on September 13, literary talks, and immersive activities that take visitors deep into Korean art and culture. This is a unique opportunity to experience a blend of tradition and modernity, celebrating the full moon and the harvest, just as in Korean tradition.


2. President Yoon Suk Yeol Applauds South Korea's Paralympic Athletes! 

President Yoon Suk Yeol expressed his gratitude to South Korea's Paralympic team, who brought home an impressive 30 medals, including 6 golds, from Paris. In a heartfelt Facebook post, he praised the dedication of the 83 athletes, their coaches, and families for their unwavering support.


3. Strengthening Korea-Japan Ties: Yoon and Kishida's Farewell Summit

During Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's farewell visit to Seoul, he and President Yoon Suk Yeol pledged to maintain the momentum in Korea-Japan cooperation. Key agreements included streamlining immigration processes and a new deal on joint evacuations of expats in emergencies. Both leaders emphasized the importance of their collaboration in boosting bilateral relations, particularly as they approach the 60th anniversary of normalized ties next year.

This summit reflects the significant progress made under their leadership, which includes 12 bilateral meetings and the revival of "shuttle diplomacy." Their efforts have created a foundation for deeper trilateral cooperation with the US and stronger people-to-people exchanges, with over 10 million expected travelers between the two nations this year.

The newly signed memorandum enhances security for their nationals abroad, further cementing trust between the two countries. Kishida, stepping down soon, expressed his commitment to ensuring the continuation of these efforts, signaling a future-oriented approach to Korea-Japan relations.


4. German Frigate Visits Incheon as Part of Indo-Pacific Mission

The German frigate Baden-Wurttemberg and replenishment ship Frankfurt am Main arrived in Incheon as part of Germany's Indo-Pacific Deployment 2024. This mission underscores Germany's growing maritime defense diplomacy in the region, aimed at ensuring secure shipping routes and supporting a rules-based international order.

Before docking in South Korea, the ships participated in monitoring the UN arms embargo against North Korea, highlighting Germany's commitment to regional security. This visit builds on the mission of the German frigate Bayern to Busan in 2021, reflecting deeper ties between Germany and South Korea, especially in areas of politics, business, science, and security policy.

Germany’s Indo-Pacific engagement, guided by its 2020 strategy, aligns closely with South Korea’s own Indo-Pacific Strategy, with both nations recognizing North Korea’s nuclear threat. Germany's recent full membership in the United Nations Command further solidifies its commitment to peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
